WHAT DHS DOES
Low Cost Spay and Neuter
DHS offers a low-cost spay/neuter program for the purpose of controlling the pet population.
Please contact DHS for more information about this program.
Rescue and Adoption
Although DHS does not operate a shelter, we do have a Foster Program in which our rescued cats and dogs are kept in private foster homes and are available for adoption.
Emergency Assistance
On occasion, DHS may assist with veterinary expenses for sick or injured animals whose owners demonstrate a financial need. We also operate a bi-weekly pet food bank for persons in financial need. This bank is dependent upon the availability of donated pet food and is to be used on a short-term basis.
Information and Referral
The DHS office handles thousand of calls and e-mails covering a wide range of topics. Referrals are made as needed. These questions are handled by volunteers and replies will be made as soon as possible. Our Website offers further information about pet adoption, foster homes, volunteers and upcoming events and DHS programs. DHS Members receive a newsletter.
